The purpose of the scholarship established by Mr. and Mrs. David W. Givens ’56 is to enrich Wabash students' experience in the arts by funding travel to see art in situ. The scholarship may be used for transportation, accommodation, museum fees, books, and other study materials for a semester in Europe. A Wabash student with a declared major or minor in Art is not eligible for the scholarship.
Requirements:
- You must have been approved to study in a European country by the Off-168体育平台下载_足球即时比分-注册|官网 Study Committee (OCSC).
- Your approved course of study must include at least one course in 168体育平台下载_足球即时比分-注册|官网stern art.
- You do not have a declared major or minor in Art.
Interested students approved to study abroad by the OCSC, must submit an online application, which may be found HERE. The application must describe what you plan to accomplish, the 168体育平台下载_足球即时比分-注册|官网stern art class in which you will enroll, and your proposed (and detailed) budget.
It's REQUIRED that you meet with at least one faculty/staff member to plan your experience in the Arts, and your plan must be based FIRST on what type of art you wish to see. Make selecting the type of art you'd like to study your TOP priority, and go from there.

The OCSC will decide upon awards before the end of the semester prior to study abroad. Before leaving campus, the successful applicants, working with Amy 168体育平台下载_足球即时比分-注册|官网ir and Advancement, will compose a one-page letter addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Givens, thanking them for providing the scholarship and describing their plans, including their plans for the formal study of art. The College will forward all letters to Mr. and Mrs. Givens.
When students are abroad, or shortly after their return to the U.S., they will each write a blog regarding what they learned about 168体育平台下载_足球即时比分-注册|官网stern Art with the assistance of the Givens Scholarship. The College will post these blogs on the website.
The deadline for students approved to study abroad in Europe in FALL 2024 to apply for a Givens Scholarship is Monday, March 25, 2024.
