Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
The Wabash College Community Engagement Fellow is a one-year professional development part-time opportunity for a recent college graduate, designed to provide meaningful work experience at the intersection of higher education, nonprofit development, and community-engaged learning. This fellowship will support Wabash’s College and Community Collaboration (CCC) initiative in partnership with the Montgomery County Community Foundation (MCCF). The Fellow will work to strengthen nonprofit capacity, increase community-engaged learning among students and local organizations, and foster mutually beneficial partnerships across the campus and community.
The position will report jointly to the Wabash CCC grant team and MCCF leadership. The Fellow will benefit from mentoring, cross-sector experience, and professional development opportunities, including exposure to nonprofit management, community-engaged learning, and philanthropic strategy.
Fellows may be eligible for an additional living stipend and/or meal plan, based upon availability. Fellows will participate in relevant trainings, including those associated with the Nonprofit Learning Series and CCC campus-community engagement programming.
This opportunity is ideal for recent Wabash College graduates interested in nonprofit work, civic leadership, or higher education and community relations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Network and Partnership Mapping
- Develop and maintain a strategic map of nonprofit organizations and their connections to Wabash College's people, programs, and places.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration and document evolving partnerships with students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
- Analyze data and report on gaps in service, areas of high engagement, and emerging needs.
Volunteer Engagement and Service Coordination
- Design and implement a sustainable volunteer tracking system for both campus-based and community-based service needs.
- Serve as a liaison between campus service organizations and nonprofit partners.
- Coordinate collaborative events such as Community Day and service-learning opportunities aligned with curricular and co-curricular goals.
Program and Event Support
- Assist in the design and delivery of the Nonprofit Learning Series in partnership with MCCF, supporting logistics, promotion, and participant engagement.
- Contribute to planning and implementation of campus-hosted nonprofit trainings and community engagement events.
- Contribute to the development of a professional development curriculum tailored to nonprofit needs and Wabash expertise.
Grants and Capacity-Building Support
- Support the administration of CCC-related mini-grant and access grant processes for both community and faculty partners.
- Assist with resource distribution and data collection for funded activities.
- Help develop resources that increase transparency, collaboration, and sustainability of the grants.
Data and Impact Analysis
- Catalog and manage qualitative and quantitative data related to community engagement and nonprofit development.
- Leverage findings from external consultants and internal stakeholders to inform continuous improvement of the CCC initiative.
- Contribute to reports, presentations, and storytelling that communicate the impact of the work.
Required Qualifications
- Wabash College Bachelor’s degree completed by start of appointment
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently in a dynamic environment
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with managing data

Preferred Qualifications
- Undergraduate experience with nonprofit operations, volunteer coordination, community-based learning, or philanthropy
- Knowledge of foundation relations or program evaluation
- Understanding of or interest in rural community dynamics and higher education community partnerships
- Ability to interpret and present data in clear, actionable formats.
