What should I do if I develop any of the symptoms of COVID-19?

Limit being around other people (don’t go to class, athletics, public events, etc.) and wear a well-fitting mask (N95, KN95, Kf94).

Get tested.

  • If you have access to an at-home antigen test, take it according to the manufacturer’s directions. 168体育平台下载_足球即时比分-注册|官网 addresses are not eligible for ordering from the federal government.
  • Testing will be available Monday through Friday in the Student Health Center from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. beginning on August 10. You MUST wear a well-fitting mask if you come for testing. If you need to be tested on the weekend, contact a fraternity officer or R.A. for advice.

Monitor your symptoms; if you develop emergency warning signs (severe chest pain, moderate to severe trouble breathing, weakness, pale skin, severe lightheadedness), go to the emergency room at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville or call 911.

168体育平台下载_足球即时比分-注册|官网ar a well-fitting mask (N95, KN95, Kf94).

Closely monitor your symptoms. If you develop symptoms, take a test. Otherwise, take a test on day six (day zero is the date of exposure).

The CDC’s Quarantine and Isolation Calculator can help you define these dates.

How can I get tested for COVID-19?

Students can access walk-in testing at the Student Health Center Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. You MUST wear a well-fitting mask if you come for testing. If you need to be tested on the weekend, contact a fraternity officer or R.A. for advice.

Employees can access testing through their primary healthcare provider or community resources. Rapid tests are also available at local pharmacies; free tests can be ordered at https://special.usps.com/testkits (limited number per household).

The Montgomery County Health Department also does testing; appointments are required. You can find more information through the MCHD website.

What should I do if I test positive for COVID-19?

If you test positive for COVID-19, you should isolate at home away from other people through day five (day zero is your first day of symptoms or the date you tested positive, whichever came first). If a negative test is obtained on day five or six, you may return to class or work but must wear a well-fitting mask (N95, KN95, Kf94) through day 10. If the test is positive, continue isolating.

You should also inform the people that you interacted with for more than 15 minutes in a 24-hour period at a distance of six feet or closer in the 48 hours before you developed symptoms that they have been exposed to COVID-19. If you would prefer to remain anonymous, you can use tellyourcontacts.org to share this information.

Please also send a message to the College Nurse using the Student Health Portal to inform her of your positive test.

It is preferable that you isolate at home. Students who are unable to isolate at home, please contact 168体育平台下载_足球即时比分-注册|官网 Security (765-361-6000) to move to on-campus isolation housing and arrange for meal delivery.

Faculty and staff: Contact Cathy Metz and/or your supervisor to discuss whether to work from home or use sick time.

Why does Wabash recommend getting vaccinated against COVID-19?

As a community that values close, face-to-face interactions, COVID-19 vaccination provides the best opportunity to provide a fulfilling on-campus experience. The American College Health Association recommends COVID-19 vaccination requirements for on campus students.

What does it mean to be "Up to Date" with vaccination against COVID-19?

Wabash recommends that students and employees receive, at a minimum, the primary series of an FDA or WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccine. 168体育平台下载_足球即时比分-注册|官网 strongly recommend everyone receive boosters as recommended by the CDC:  https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/stay-up-to-date.html

You are also considered immune for 90 days after a clinically documented COVID-19 infection (test administered in a medical setting, not an at-home test).

Where can I get vaccinated?

The fastest way to identify a location where you can be vaccinated is to use the CDC’s website and enter your zip code. Persons in Indiana can register for a vaccination through the Indiana Department of Health website. Many vaccination locations offer vaccinations during business hours with no appointment necessary.

Who should I contact if I have more questions?

The CDC vaccination page contains answers to most questions. If you can’t find your answer there, or have a question more specific to Wabash, email vaccine@wabash.edu.

What has the College done to address indoor air quality in light of COVID-19?

Filtration has been enhanced by upgrading to filters with higher MERV ratings in buildings across campus. Ventilation has been enhanced by maximizing the amount of fresh air brought in through HVAC systems and by maintaining ventilation during off hours. Wabash has not installed ionization systems or other unproven technologies, choosing instead to focus on the proven techniques that maximize the air change rate. Air quality measurement sampling for CO2 and aerosol particle concentrations are done periodically.

I am vaccinated. May I still wear a mask?

Yes, many vaccinated persons will choose to wear masks to protect themselves or members of their families who are unable to be vaccinated, particularly when the community transmission is high. If you see someone wearing a mask indoors, consider it an invitation to put on your own – always err on the side of being a responsible citizen.

How should I decide if my group should meet in person or on Zoom?

Consider the size of your group, the meeting space, the function of the meeting, and the preferences of the involved individuals. If one of the goals is connection, it is better to meet in person. If the meeting primarily involves looking at documents or there are people at special risk, consider meeting on Zoom.

If you choose to meet in person, find a well-ventilated space and consider the risk factors of the meeting participants. Remember, anyone should be allowed to wear a mask at any time.
