Berg ’22 Wins National Fraternity Award

The honors continue to roll in for Adam Berg ’22 as he was named winner of the Wilkinson Award for the calendar year 2021 from the national office of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.

The Wilkinson Award is given annually to the fraternity’s most outstanding senior. He is the third Wabash man to earn the award, joining Robert L. Faul in 1968 and David D. 168体育平台下载_足球即时比分-注册|官网lch in 1981.

Berg plans to attend medical school after teaching English in Spain for a year, beginning in October.“I can’t underscore enough the role that the Wabash community had in propelling me to this point,” said Berg. “I think of my fraternity brothers, who have become some of my best friends, and the many other individuals and groups on campus who made my college experience so rich. Wabash is special, and it will stay that way so long as we continue placing the needs of others before our own.”

A native of Tacoma, Washington, Berg was a Spanish major who earned distinction on comprehensive exams. In addition to being a past president of Phi Gamma Delta, he was a member of Wabash Christian Men, the Sphinx Club, and Phi Beta Kappa. Berg also was co-captain of the soccer team, and was selected as one of two commencement speakers.

Berg was received the John Maurice Butler Prize for Scholarship and Character, the Senior Award of Merit, and is a two-time recipient of the Community Service Award for Outstanding Work. Further, he was named to the North Coast Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll.

“Being named outstanding senior for the fraternity nationwide recognizes Adam’s commitment to service, his academic chops, and his deep dedication to ethical leadership,” said Dan Rogers, professor of Spanish and faculty advisor to Phi Gamma Delta. “The fraternity, and Wabash College, gave Adam the opportunity to develop his talents and give back to his fellow students. When Adam turned his attention to an important issue in the hoMenbers of Wabash’s Phi Gamma Delta chapter accept the Jordan Bowl from the national office. The honor goes to the undergraduate chapter judged to have achieved the highest comparative scholarship among all chapters for the preceding year.use, he had that unique skill of recruiting others to get on board with what it took to solve to the problem. Although we’ll miss him this year, the positive example he set will endure.”

Additionally, Wabash’s Phi Gamma Delta chapter earned the Jordan Bowl from the national office, which is awarded to the undergraduate chapter judged to have achieved the highest comparative scholarship among all chapters for the preceding year.
