2023 Big Bash Recap

Hot temperatures and good company were on the schedule for the annual Big Bash Reunion 168体育平台下载_足球即时比分-注册|官网ekend which began June 2. More than 300 alumni and their families descended on campus to return to their youth, reestablish friendships, and reignite their relationship with the College.

The fun kicked off on Friday when the registration book cracked open at 8 a.m. and began to fill with signatures. Alumni, families, and friends can spent the morning touring campus, grabbing some new gear at the bookstore, and  competing in the golf outing Florida scramble style.

After a casual buffet lunch in Knowling Fieldhouse, tours continued, the bookstore remained open, and Wally’s Pub opened for an afternoon of reliving old memories and making new ones.

In addition, Wabash faculty, staff, and alumni shared their expertise at the annual afternoon symposium. This year’s Big Bash attendeestheme, Wally in the Arena: College Sports and the Liberal Arts, included sessions throughout the afternoon by Nolan Eller ’11, Economics Professor Eric Dunaway, Andy Walsh ’14, Athletics Communication Director Brent Harris ’03, Craig Demaree ’02, Ryan Tipps ’00, Greg Thomas ’00, Psychology Professor Bobby Horton, Michael Lumpkin ’18, and Director of Athletics and 168体育平台下载_足球即时比分-注册|官网 168体育平台下载_足球即时比分-注册|官网llness Matt Tanney ’05.

The Big Bash Banquet on Friday evening in Knowling Fieldhouse brought members of all classes together for a spirited meal and special presentation by the 50th reunion class. Wally’s Pub kept busy after the event as attendees stopped for a nightcap.For the early birds and athletically-minded attendees, Saturday began with a leisurely bike ride throughout Crawfordsville and Montgomery County or a Fun Run/Walk on campus.

The morning culminated with Alumni Chapel Sing in Pioneer Chapel. It was a stress-free and laughter-filled version of what many Wabash men recall as their fondest Wabash memory.

Immediately following Alumni Chapel Sing was a picnic-style lunch in Knowling Fieldhouse and class photographs. Spouses, partners, and families were invited to stand alongside their favorite alumni and be archived as part of the reunion festivities.

Several options awaited attendees on Saturday afternoon.

Wabash’s 17th President Scott Feller offered Big Bash attendees an update on the College at his presentation, Wabash Today in Salter Hall. Colloquia sessions were presented by Richard Gunderman ’83, Frank Buerger ’73, Randy Williams ’83, and David 168体育平台下载_足球即时比分-注册|官网glarz '03.Randy Williams ’83

The biology, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, physics, and psychology departments hosted alumni receptions in Hays, Goodrich, and Baxter Halls. Independent student housing and fraternities were open for touring. The W Club Lounge and press box in Little Giant Stadium were also be open for visitors.

Spouses and partners of Wabash alumni were invited to a reception in Lilly Library and Wally’s Pub was again open for classmates, alumni, and friends to grab an afternoon cocktail.

All attendees gathered for a reception in the Hall of Giants, the concourse at Little Giant Stadium, before heading to smaller dinners with classmates. Members of the 50th reunion class received their medallions at the Class of 1973 dinner in Knowling Fieldhouse.

The weekend wrapped up on Sunday at an informal buffet breakfast.
